The Freddy Charles Story
"Not interested in the world as it is"
IT BEGAN WITH A PAIR OF STICKS
And lots of classic Rock,
Jazz, and Blues.
Freddy Charles is a multi-instrumentalist solo musician who has recorded and produced 9 full length albums since 2008.
He first began playing music at 4 or 5 years old, first as a drummer, then a guitarist, and finally melding into a full-blown composer/ singer-songwriter.
Freddy’s true passion lies in the creation of musical compositions, assembling all of his talents to form one cohesive piece. In all of his work, he has played every note that has been recorded, self-produced every record, and has been his own recording engineer.
Over the years Freddy has experienced multiple successes with his music. Most notably, in 2014, Sirius XM radio picked up one of his electronic tracks entitled “Full Circle” and played it frequently for a year. Full Circle was followed up with the song “Make Them Move” which also saw airtime on Sirius XM in early 2015. In addition, Freddy has placed tracks in independent films over the years, and has collaborated with several other artists in various projects. As a drummer, he has performed drum clinics and sessions throughout the USA and internationally.
Now a little backstory…
A five year hiatus between my last two records proved to be a challenging time in my life. While working with my wife Jaclyn to build our travel business, I began to struggle with depression and other ailments. Suddenly my entire life became very confusing, and ironically on the outside everything looked perfect. Our business was taking shape, we were traveling the world like rockstars, and essentially living the dream. I however was going deeper and deeper into a depressed abyss. Though I’ve been able to create music rather consistently for nearly 2 decades, something felt off every time I’d try to take my career to the next level. In a nutshell, after years of doctor visits, naturopaths and treatments I finally discovered that Lyme disease had taken over my cognitive function, rendering my ability to concentrate, and essentially organize my life useless. Fast forward to present day, and I am finally recovering, regaining my cognitive function, and have never been more excited to start my career again.
While creatively Lyme disease never really hampered my work, the inconsistencies in my life caused by the disease have slowed me down.
I am fortunate to have been able to build a fanbase over the years, whom I wish to really nurture and provide value to through my music. I’ll be able to stregthen that relationship even more with you as time goes on, producing music that moves you.
